Small Space Storage Solutions - Bachelorette Pad

Here is a BEFORE picture of an apartment kitchen I did some work in last year.  It was a fun project for me because I love finding hidden space to add accessible, efficient storage - especially in a kitchen.  Have I mentioned I Love Kitchens?  This little apartment kitchen needed some TLC to make it feel special and have a welcoming, hip atmosphere.  It also needed a boost in the storage department.

Small Apartment Kitchen, lacking storage
What was the fridge doing over there all by its lonesome?  By pulling it away from the wall and turning it to actually face the kitchen (cabinets now opposite the doors), it makes it feel more purposeful in its new location.  It also has some kitchen-stuff company with the addition of a sleek charcoal parsons shelf to serve as a pantry to house dry goods as well as two small appliances that would otherwise have occupied the valuable counter space.

Getting there, but there was still some storage needed to collect the clients' life stuff, desk stuff, keys, mail, etc.

PROCESS SHOT - more storage needed...
So, we had this roll-top desk painted in an awesome emerald green color and added the hammered brass hardware for an even more updated look.  The roll-top conceals stuff when it needs to be out of sight, but the piece contains and corrals items that would otherwise litter the apartment with clutter.  We added some greenery for texture and life in the space as well as to conceal the behind-the-fridge area.

What about that wall above the sink and stove with the strangely placed light fixture?  Wall decor adds some dimension and interest and makes sense of that wall light.  This super affordable solutions was made out of floating frames from - get ready - WalMart, and the clients' own wall clock.  It's personal and charming with some sayings that reflect the client's personality.
